CREW Careers 2019

November 13, 2019
CREW Austin partnered with the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders to hold the 2019 CREW Careers event on Monday, November 4th, 2019.  CREW Careers Day is a once a year event that CREW Austin holds for the entire ninth grade class of the Ann Richards School.  The mission is to educate the students about the future career opportunities in commercial real estate available and includes a one day classroom interactive session and presentation analyzing an active development site in Austin.  As always, the 2019 event was a huge success, and the committee members, judges, and experts were incredibly impressed with the teamwork and initiative of the nine grade class of students.

Team “Hatch Hotel” took the winning prize this year, led by Team Lead volunteers Julie Zitter, Amy Martorano, and Jennifer Jarl McCombs.  The winning team was awarded a special Celebration Day the following Saturday, including a limo ride to tour the actual development site, which was the site of the new Marriott Austin development.  Thank you to White Lodging and DPR Construction for supporting our endeavors with the use of their new development site.

The winning team then was treated to a private tour of The Fareground with superstar designer Maija Kreishman.  Thank you to the Celebration Team (Janki DePalma, Marissa McKinney, JoEllen Eggert Powell and Danielle McKenzie) for planning such a special day for the students!

We could not have held the event without the support of our wonderful sponsors: Norton Rose Fulbright, InSite Educational Facility Services, Austin Title Company, Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta LLP, Capital CDC, Independence Title, SouthStar Bank, S.S.B., American Bank of Commerce, Doucet & Associates, Inc., and Lillibridge Healthcare Services.

We will start planning for CREW Careers 2020 soon!  Do you have interest in serving on a dynamic committee to help make this incredible event happen?  JoEllen Eggert Powell will serve as the 2020 CREW Careers Chair, and Danielle McKenzie will serve as the Co-Chair.  Please contact JoEllen for more information at
